Engaging with official Business Registers
Trust in business starts with verified identity
Business registers are the foundation of that trust – ensuring we can verify that companies are who they say they are before contracts are signed or payments made.

ECCMA’s engagement with Business Registers
ECCMA is a not-for-profit membership association dedicated to improving data quality and transparency across global supply chains. Through the development and implementation of international data standards – including ISO 8000 and ISO 25500 – ECCMA helps organizations achieve greater efficiency, accountability, and security.

Engaging with Business Registers worldwide
Business registers are the foundation of business identity verification and are essential to the safe and effective functioning of the global supply chain.
ECCMA works closely with Business Registers to promote best practices in business data management and accessibility. Each year, ECCMA publishes its Annual Report on the Digital Availability of Business Register Data, which tracks progress toward global data accessibility.

For a safer global economy
As part of this work, ECCMA engages with leading international associations – including the Corporate Registers Forum (CRF) and the International Association of Commercial Registers (IACA) – to advance understanding of how business register data supports supplier identity verification and supply chain security. ECCMA was proud to become the first Associate Member of the Corporate Registers Forum.
Through our work, ECCMA continues to lead initiatives that make verified business data more accessible, standardized, and reliable – strengthening trust in every transaction worldwide.

Business Citizenship: A growing challenge for Business Registers
As global trade expands, verifying the domestic registration of foreign businesses has become a growing challenge for many national Business Registers. Ensuring that each foreign entity is accurately identified and up-to-date is essential for maintaining transparency, compliance, and trust within the global supply chain.
ECCMA provides Business Registers with a free service to verify Domestic Registration for Foreign Entities.
This initiative supports a Business Register’s work to address Business Citizenship – the ability to confirm that a company operating in a foreign market is legitimately registered and compliant in its home jurisdiction. Our ability to verify foreign domestic registrations ensures that foreign registrations can be confidently traced back to legitimate, up-to-date domestic records.
By providing free verification of foreign domestic registrations, ECCMA is helping Business Registers strengthen data integrity, improve cross-border transparency, and enhance the reliability of corporate identity information that underpins global trade.
ECCMA’s Annual Report on the Digital Availability of Business Register Data
Businesses are the building blocks of every supply chain — and business registers are the only authoritative source with which to verify a business’s identity, legal existence, and active status.
All other information about a business — from financial data to ESG metrics — depends on the integrity of its registration record.
Each year, ECCMA publishes its Annual Report on the Digital Availability of Business Register Data, analyzing the accessibility and transparency of this foundational data worldwide.
The report evaluates the digital, public availability of key business data elements that are critical for:
It also assesses how easily organizations can verify these elements directly from business register websites — the ultimate source of truth in a global economy built on trust and verification.
